Ted and Gayle Haggard to visit local church

Ted and Gayle Haggard will speak at Lifepoint Church this Sunday. Ted Haggard, former pastor of the New Life Church and president of the National Association of Evangelicals, resigned from both positions in 2006 following a sex and drugs scandal.

His wife, Gayle Haggard, wrote a book “Why I Stayed,” published in January. The New York Times bestseller chronicles Gayle Haggard’s struggles to forgive her husband.

The couple will speak at Lifepoint, which meets at Riverbend High School, to kick off an upcoming sermon series on marriage.

The church’s press release says:

Today nearly 50% of marriages end in divorce and many of the remianing 50% are struggling if not crumbling. Lifepoint will begin a new message series this Sunday dealing with these hard truths. The series is entitled ‘It’s Complicated.’

I think religion is very great but how could you claim to serve the LORD and do what this man has done.While he was preaching he committed the most terrible sins and lied to everyone in his church,home,his GOD, his family and friends.There is one thing I know my Lord DON’T FORGIVE the sins he has committed.If you want to see him go for it but I would not waste my time .

You’re right, Stonewall, his sins of spreading hate and bigotry against his own kind (homosexuals) are horrendous. He should apologize to gay people everywhere and come back out of the closet. He should apologize to his “wife” for wasting her time, too. I don’t have time this weekend (what with all the baby-eating and church vandalizing I have to do), but I’d love to go to this and hold up a sign for him that just says, “Ted, you’re gay and that’s okay.”

There was nothing in the above post about him continuing to pastor or lead a church. We all fall from grace and my Lord preaches that the only unforgivable sin is to believe that you don’t need forgiveness. I am thankful that I serve the God of second chances because I know I’ve needed my share of them. I can only attempt show the same grace to others as has been shown to me. After all, we’ve all fallen from grace. Who am I to point a finger.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Yes, it is true that the sins that this man committed are bad or maybe a lot worse than an average sinner but still the truth is that God doesn’t look at any sin less or more than the other. Sin is sin and we all do our share of sinning but thats why Jesus died on the cross and rose 3 days later so we ALL could be forgiven. John 3:16 said whoever believe will have everlasting life not just some people but whoever. So, let me ask everybody this, if you Don’t think God forgives Haggard, that once was known as one of the most Godly men in our country, then what would your chances be of getting forgiveness? Yeah exactly! It’s a good thing he’s a God of mercy then huh people. And for future reference you might seriousely want to actually read God’s word(Holy Bible) next time before you literally put words in God’s mouth.

Thank you JG and R3@L +ru+h for your words of wisdom! Mr. Haggard is indeed forgiven by God’s grace and mercy. As John 8:7 reads “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone” and I will be the first to admit I am not without sin so I am eternally grateful for the gift from our Savior. A gift that is even available for someone that has sins that may shock you like the ones of Mr. Haggard. How blessed are we!? There are no perfect people so rather than judging others we should be learning from their experiences, especially those people that are courageous enough to come forward and share their painful stories to help others not make the same mistakes. Today my prayers will be that stonewall park, Pastafari and other like them will have their eyes and hearts opened to a God who forgives and will thank Him for that indescribable gift because you can’t live a victorious life without accepting the truth that your sins are forgiven by God. You can’t pay for your own sins because that debt has already been paid by Jesus. I dare you to go hear Ted and Gayle’s story. I bet it will touch your heart and open it so you can live in this truth of God’s gift to you so you can move ahead, knowing you’re free
to live the life He wants for you!

Maybe he is driven by greed, maybe not. That’s not for me to judge. His forgiveness is between him and God. Who am I to throw stones? Are my sins and transgressions any less sinful than his? Not at all!
