The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs appears to be planning a significant office in Spotsylvania County that could employ about 160 people locally. Arlington-based contractor Kizano Corp. announced this spring that it was awarded a two-year, $2.5 million contract from the VA to “provide office services to 164 VA employees who will be assigned to the new Strategic Acquisition Center in Spotsylvania County.”
Kizano leased 19,000 square feet at 10300 Spotsylvania Ave., one of the two former Capital One call-center office buildings in the Lee’s Hill area. Kizano President David Young said his firm will set up desks, phone, Internet and other amenities for the VA employees working there. Two Kizano staffers will work there and provide administrative support. Kizano filed a commercial building permit in Spotsylvania last month for renovation work valued at $210,000 in the office building. Young said the office will be ready by Aug. 1.
Thus far the VA has not released any information about its plans for the office. But the Strategic Acquisition Center is listed on the department’s Office of Acquisition and Logistics site, which states that branch of the VA supports “our Nation’s Veterans and Other Government Agencies by providing acquisition, logistics, and financial solutions.”
We will pass along more details as they come in.
