Free AARP Workshop in Caroline County:

Get the Facts about the New Health Care Law

MILFORD _ AARP Virginia will host a free workshop about how the new health care law affects people age 50+ from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 20 at the Bowling Green Library, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514.

“The new health care law brings a number of changes for all Americans including people over 50,” said AARP Virginia Senior State Director Bill Kallio, who will conduct the free workshop and answer questions about the new health care law.

The session is free and open to the public, but registration is required.  To register, call 1-877-926-8300.  Light refreshments will be served.

Kallio, who has been with AARP more than 20 years, has a unique perspective on efforts to improve the health care system.  He and his staff in Richmond, along with a cadre of dedicated volunteers, represent more than 1 million AARP members in Virginia. His presentation will cover the new health care law’s impact on older Virginians, including how it affects Medicare.

“Whether you are on Medicare, buy insurance on your own or through your employer or can’t afford health insurance, the changes to the health care system will affect you,” Kallio said.  “By knowing what’s in the law and when the different provisions take effect, you can make wise decisions for yourself and your family.”
