Five candidates have applied for the vacant Garrisonville District seat on the Stafford County School Board. The board will interview the applicants on Wednesday, 5 p.m.
The five applicants are: Tonya Harris, Nanette Kidby, Alvin Martin, Sylvester Mitchell and Laura Sellers.
The board will meet in a closed session after the interviews. Members could decide then. Or they may decide at the regular Feb. 14 meeting.
The Garrisonville seat is open after Ty Schieber left to sit on the Board of Supervisors. He replaced Mark Dudenhefer who is now serving in the House of Delegates. The Stafford School Board must appoint a replacement for Schieber in early March. A special election will be held later to fill the seat. School Board members have indicated this could happen in November.
