
UPDATE: 12:18 p.m. Upon further review of city records, the structure at 702 Princess Anne St. was built in 1889. It’s owned by Francis P. Valentino and Sally Sellner and in 2009 it was assessed at $217,800. It’s 2,054 square feet and has eight rooms. It has a basement that’s 698 square feet. The Old Blantons Store is the business that currently occupies the building.
UPDATE: 11:23 a.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal’s office, said Fredericksburg Deputy Chief Michael Jones.
He said the damage to the building next door, 700 Princess Anne St., was mainly damage limited to window frames and the side of the first and second levels.
According to city records, the building at 702 Princess Anne St. was built in 1910 and has 2 1/2 stories. The house is Queen Anne-Colonial Revival transitional style. There is a one story addition attached to the east elevation of the building.

Original Story:
An overnight fire heavily damaged a business on Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg and spread to a building next door, fire officials said. No one was injured in the fire.
The fire began shortly before 12:30 a.m., in a 2 1/2 story building at 702 Prince Anne Street. When city firefighters arrived, heavy fire was coming from first and second floors of the building and soon spread to window frames and and the interior of a building located at 700 Princess Anne. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes but were on the scene for about six hours. City firefighters were assisted by Stafford and Spotsylvania firefighters.
There’s no estimate of the damage yet.
