Ruby Brabo, Sen. Richard Stuart and Rosemary Mahan in Richmond.

King George County Supervisor Ruby Brabo, along with Westmoreland County Supervisor Rosemary Mahan, spent time with local lawmakers at the General Assembly on Thursday as part of the Virginia Association of Counties Legislative Day.
The two supervisors visited with Sen. Richard Stuart, Sen. Ryan McDougle and Del. Margaret Ransone to discuss issues affecting their counties.
Topics included the Virginia Retirement System, a machine and tool tax, the “pickle bill,” which debated the sale of homemade pickles at farmers markets, economic development, wireless broadband solutions for the Northern Neck and the Dahlgren Heritage Museum.
“I definitely felt it was beneficial, especially being newly elected,” Brabo said.
She said it was particularly interesting to sit in on a Senate committee and hear both sides present their arguments on an education bill.
