UPDATE: As of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, they were still out there searching for the body. -BF
Dive teams from Fredericksburg and King George and Caroline counties resumed the search this morning for the body of a man who presumably drowned last night in the Rappahannock River near Port Royal. Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa said that a call came in around 5:30 p.m. yesterday about a man and a woman who had capsized in a canoe. The woman swam to the King George side of the river. The man is about 30 and is from King and Queen County, but he has not been identified. Caroline emergency officials said that the river search was temporarily called off around 3 a.m. today, and that divers returned to the area a little before 9 a.m. Law enforcement officials remained on the scene throughout the night.
