A former substitute teacher at King George High School who had sexual relations with two teenagers – a boy and a girl – was ordered Thursday to serve seven and a half years in prison.

Deaunta J. Campbell, 23, was sentenced in King George Circuit Court to a total of 65 years with most of that time suspended, according to court records.

Campbell had previously pleaded guilty to 11 felonies, including multiple counts of indecent liberties, carnal knowledge, non-forcible sodomy and electronic solicitation.

According to the evidence, police began an investigation last year after learning about text messages between Campbell and a 14-year-old boy. The boy was in middle school at the time of the offenses.

Campbell worked as a substitute teacher at the high school until October of last year, when school officials were notified about the investigation.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Matt Britton said the investigation revealed that Campbell had relations with the boy at least three times and at least once with a 15-year-old girl. The acts took place between September 2009 and January of last year at the teenagers’ homes and at Campbell’s home, Britton said.

Britton said Campbell knew the girl’s family and met the boy online. He admitted to the offenses when confronted by police.
