Windows in at least 39 area vehicles have been shot out in recent days, police said.
Police have taken multiple reports in Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg and Stafford. Police believe the damage was done with a BB gun or a pellet-type air gun.
Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Harvey said his office took 21 reports between Wednesday and Friday.
Affected subdivisions include Sheraton Hills, Plantation Forest, Stoneybrook, Millgarden, Oak Grove, Fox Point and Heatherstone.
In Fredericksburg, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said 15 vehicles had windows destroyed between Friday night and Saturday morning. The incidents took place in Normandy Village, Mayfield and along Caroline Street.
Stafford Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said there were three incidents over the weekend on Azalea Street and Otto Way.
Anyone with information about the vandalism spree is asked to call their local law-enforcement agency.
