Rescue squads pulled a man out of the Rappahannock River Wednesday afternoon after he apparently slid down an embankment and fell into the river.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m., near the railroad bridge over the river, according to Natatia Bledsoe, city police spokeswoman.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for a well-being check after he was rescued from the chilly waters but he did not suffer any serious injuries, she said.
