After a recent posting about a rabid cat in King George County (see story here), I got some information about Sept. 28 being the fifth annual World Rabies Day. Those with the organization are working in 135 countries, where they’ve educated 150 million people and vaccinated 5 million animals.
Despite efforts of the group, rabies continues to cause deaths of about 55,000 people a year, mostly in Asia and Africa.
