St. Michael the Archangel High School hosted the third-year program’s first-ever varsity invitational on Saturday, attracting seven teams and 197 swimmers.
St. Michael’s sophomore Alec Morin finished with 16 points, tying him with three other swimmers for top-point earner at the meet.Kevin Grant (Bishop Ireton), Remi Moshos (Highland) and Rachel Dumez (Wakefield) for top scorers in the meet.
The Warriors also qualified five swimmers for the VISAA state championships. Jacob Hallahan (50 free) and Morin (50 free, 100 butterfly) qualified individually. The two will be joined by relay teammates John Sampson, Matt Sampson and Nolan Turley as members of the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams.
St. Michael’s coach Anne Morin said the progression of her mostly inexperienced group of swimmers has her excited about what the rest of the season holds.
“I’m very pleased,” she said. “Everybody drops times essentially every meet. They are swimming very, very well and have gelled together as a team so far.”
Complete team results and top-five finishes for the Warriors follow.
