Iconic Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius was found dead in his home this morning. The 75-year-old’s death is still under investigation, but it is presumed he shot himself.
In case you don’t know, Soul Train was one of the longest-running syndicated shows in television history, spreading soul and r&b music around the globe. In American Bandstand style, the show featured people dancing to the hot tunes of the day. My personal favorite segment: the Soul Train Line. It was a thing of beauty.
The Bee Gees – “You Should Be Dancing”
Curtis Mayfield – “Get Down”
Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
